Artist’s Statement
To paint is my greatest passion and pleasure within my world of interdisciplinary art. My paintings of trees, seas, roads and flowers emerge from my relationship with my inner and outer worlds and the way they speak to one another.
I find myself in constant communication with nature and I know that when I am triggered to paint trees or seas, it is because my body acts as an interface between my tree and ocean within and the one that exists outside of myself.
Like the tree, I have always regarded myself as someone who serves others. Trees are abundant with favours and live for the benefit of others. They are a repository of wisdom. Trees and waves grow, they die and then revive themselves. One day my skin will collapse and there will be no separation between us, and I will melt into this ongoing cycle of growth, death and rebirth.
When I paint, I die before death. Just the tree or the sea is left.
